Launched on Monday in partnership With Seventeen magazine, #PerfectlyMe sets out to encourage self confidence in people and redefine beauty standards, embrassing what has been branded as "flaws" by the media. The initiative is a way in which Instagram is striving to be a safe space to share visual stories without judgement, and to form a community of people that celebrates and supports one another. There are now nearly 5000 posts using the tag including influential bloggers and celebrities such as Ariel Winter.
As well as this they have rolled out new safety features for the way posts can be reported and how they are responded to. Users can flag content that is concerning, following which person that posted the content will receive a message from the service ensuring if they are alright and giving them options to contact suitable helplines, follow links to tips or support, or to contact someone they trust to give them advice.
